RIEMAA ALUMNI MEET
Venue: RIEM Campus
Date: 8th & 9th May 2011

It is a matter of great pride for us that the Regional Institute of Education, Mysore (RIEM) is our Alma matter.  Our Institute has a monumental history of 48 years and has been in the focus for the qualitative improvement of school education. RIEMAA, the Regional Institute of Education Mysore Alumni Association, was established in 2008 with an objective of encouraging excellence in educational practices, leadership and entrepreneurship facilitates the lifelong role each has as stewards of RIEM.

The RIEMAA meet provides a great opportunity to meet people, rejuvenate years’ relations, share ideas and knowledge. Also, more importantly, aims to build a platform to develop, sustain and expand opportunities for alumni. At this moment, RIEMAA is happy to announce this year Alumni meet to be held on 8th and 9th May, 2011.

The Journey So Far
As we with RIEMAA, it is time to look back at the milestones crossed while we stride ahead carving a new path.
  • The registration of RIEMAA as a non-profit cooperative society act under the society act of India. This is in the final stage and will help us to mobile more funds to RIEMAA in form of donations and membership fees.
  • RIEMAA website. It is functional from last three years
  • Alumni meet. Successful organization of three meets so far.
The Road Ahead…
The alumni association needs to foster and strengthen the intellectual and spiritual connections to the RIEM community, and provide alumni with a range of programs and services that will engage them with the Institute and with each other. Keeping the same in view the agenda for the meet would be on the following lines:
  • Interactive RIEMAA website. Though the RIEMAA website is functional from last three years, it requires a quotient of interactivity through publishing articles on education and school reforms, lesson plans etc.
  • Strengthening the Institute library. Provide set of books and periodicals required and arrangements for procuring the same.
  • Smaller executive groups. Formation of small task based executive groups to take the initiative forward and ensure its completion.
  • Election of new executive members
  • Further programs/ activities. Discussions with the alumni and the executive team on the programs to be taken up further in line with the ideals and objectives of RIEMAA.
As we step forward together with the spirit of RIEM guiding us, I extend a personal invitation to the meet and request you all to make your travel plans accordingly to ensure a memorable time for all of us.

RIEMAA members met on 10 May 2009 and the following decisions were taken:

Minutes of the executive body meeting held on 10th May 2009

  1. Next Alumni meet will be in 2011. However if required each zone or batch can meet on their own and minutes can be updated on the RIEMAA website.
  2. Each executive member will have to add at least 10 members to the existing list.
  3. Rupees one lakh is allocated for the purchase of journals as per RIE faculty member’s suggestions. This task will be taken by Mr. Rajsekar Reddy by 1st August 2009
  4. Website will be maintained by a Chennai based developer but the maintenance cost will be agreed mutually by the executive members and the developer.
  5. Under EOSE, attempt to study feasibility of the project by Dr. Khadar Vali, 30th June 2009
  6. Greening the campus-a one pager report to be discussed with Dr. Bhandge
  7. Activities that needs to be completed by Dr. Viswanathappa by 31st August 2009
    • Pan card for RIEMAA
    • ATG exemption certificate
    • FERA exemption certificate
    • Registration number for RIEMAA as a registered society.
  8. Enabling different features on our RIEMAA website by P Mohan Kumar
    • Search facility by name, batch, and course.
    • Quarterly one article from RIEM faculty and RIEMAA members

RIEMAA meet
Venue: RIEM Campus
Date: 10 May 2009

RIEMAA has decided to organise the second Alumni meet at RIEM campus on 10 May 2009. We would request all the alumni to plan their travel according and make this meet a more successful one. Also, communicate the same to your network of RIEM alumni so that everyone is aware of this event. This time we are also planning to invite the alumni through newspaper insertion during the last week of April so that there is maximum participation.

To make this event a gala event we have worked out a proposed budget for 500 members amounting to 2.5laks. the breakup of the budget is given below. We would welcome any individuals or company sponsors for any one of the item heads. Also we would be happy if you could mention us the name of the person and organisation who can be a sponsors so that we can write a official letter for the same.
